President signs COVID relief bill, provides support to aviation
President Donald Trump signed a $2.3 trillion package of bills December 27, 2020, that includes $1.4 trillion to fund the government through September and a $900 billion stimulus package to provide relief from the COVID-19 pandemic. As part of the $900 billion COVID-19 relief package that was passed by the House and Senate, airports are slated to receive $2 billion, of which $45 million is designated for general aviation airports. Flight Training scholarship recipient shares strategies
A love for flying spurred 17-year-old Madison "Maddy" Seymour to pursue learning to fly, and AOPA flight training scholarship funds helped her earn a private pilot certificate in November. 2021 Air Race Classic canceled
The Air Race Classic, a cross-country women's air race that typically features teams of college students, will not take place in June 2021, the organizers announced in December. The COVID-19 pandemic is the driving force behind the cancellation, although the race organizers said they hope to host an alternative event in its place. READ MORE ›
