AOPA releases annual weather survey
More work is needed to encourage pilots to file pilot reports, and to be familiar with the FAA advisory circular on self-conducted weather briefings, according to the results of a weather survey conducted by AOPA. Republic Airways' LIFT Academy to expand to South Carolina
Republic Airways' Leadership in Flight Training Academy will expand to the Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR) in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Republic opened its academy in 2018 in Indianapolis. Operations could begin as early as October in a temporary hangar. The flight school also plans to use this location for its Indiana winter operations, according to a news release. LIFT Academy operates a fleet of Diamond DA40-NG and DA42-VI aircraft with Garmin G1000 avionics.

UND Aerospace switches to lead-free aviation gasoline
The University of North Dakota's aerospace department will switch its fleet to unleaded avgas. The fleet of 100 aircraft will use Swift Fuels’ UL94, making it one of the largest public flight schools to switch to lead-free avgas, according to the Grand Forks Herald. The unleaded fuel could extend the interval period between aircraft inspections by up to 25 percent, school officials said.
