Increase in flight activity mitigates increases in accidents, report finds |
The number of general aviation accidents rose in 2021; however, the accident rate percentage trended down over the same period, thanks to an increasing number of flight hours flown. Those are some of the major findings in the AOPA Air Safety Institute's Richard G. McSpadden Report. The Richard G. McSpadden Report was formerly known as the Joseph T. Nall Report and was renamed in memory of ASI's McSpadden, who died October 1. READ MORE › |

FAA expanding weather camera coverage |
The FAA announced it will expand its network of weather cameras to reach a bigger part of the continental United States, with 160 new weather camera sites in 39 states planned over the next seven years. QUICK TIP
|
How can flight schools attract and retain employees? Phillipe Santiago of Aviator Zone Academy in Florida says first you have to recognize that you only have them for 1,500 hours. Find the right people who will fit in well with your flight school's culture, pay them well, and as that 1,500-hour mark approaches, plan ahead, and get a new flight instructor on board early so that the senior CFI can mentor him or her.
