Disposable view-limiting device

Instructors and students who want a lightweight, inexpensive view-limiting device will want to try Best Hood. The hood, which is made from heavy duty paper board, easily folds flat and weights less than one ounce. A thin elastic strap allows it to fit comfortably either under or over a headset. To adjust the strap, you simply staple it down to the hood to make it the correct size. The hood can also be folded or torn along a perforation to make a convenient sun visor. The hoods can be customized with the name of a flight school or instructor to be used as a marketing tool.

The hoods are priced at $5 for one, $12 for three, or $15 for five. Discounts are available for larger orders. For more information or to order, contact Best Hood, Bill Weder, 2058 State Route 4, St. Jacob, Illinois 62281; telephone 888/644-0591.

Emergencies video covers systems failures

Every pilot practices engine failures, but few learn or practice what to do when an airplane's systems fail during flight. Emergencies Volume 2: Surviving Systems Emergencies is the latest video offering from King Schools. This video focuses on what to do when the radios quit, the alternator fails, the brakes go out, a tire blows out, or a door opens on climb out.

The 120-minute video offers tips and procedures to resolve these problems before they become full-blown emergencies. The techniques include mnemonic devices and simple guidelines to help pilots handle almost any system failure. The video costs $29 but is free to pilots who order a King Exam Video Course.

For more information about this and other videos, contact King Schools at 3840 Calle Fortunada, San Diego, California 92123; telephone 800/854-1001 or 619/541-2200; e-mail ([email protected]).
