IAOPA appoints Klaus Zeh European vice president

International Council of Aircraft Owner and Pilot Associations (IAOPA) President Phil Boyer appointed Klaus Zeh senior vice president of IAOPA's European Region on 1 February 2001. Mr. Zeh has been the acting senior vice president of the region since September 2000.

"I am pleased that Klaus has accepted this important position," said Boyer. "With 32 affiliates, our European Region is the most active within our association. The European Region is often at the leading edge of changes that significantly affect worldwide general aviation and aerial work activities.

"Klaus is well known to both European officials and AOPA affiliates because of his 17-year tenure as an officer of AOPA Germany," Boyer added. "More importantly, he has been an active and persuasive spokesman for general aviation and aerial work within Europe. His skills as a successful insurance executive and his understanding of European politics will serve the region and its affiliates well."

In accepting the position, Zeh said, "Aviation in Europe is growing and changing rapidly. Since general aviation and aerial work activities form an integral part of that growth, it is important that their needs be heard and accommodated at the highest levels.

"IAOPA Europe must actively respond to these changes to ensure that its constituents' needs are incorporated into the regional plans and strategies. I look forward to working with all aviation interests and government authorities to achieve this goal."

IAOPA affiliates represent the interests of general aviation and aerial work activities in 55 countries around the world. Its members comprise more than 400,000 pilots and aircraft operators. For more information, visit the IAOPA Web site.
