Meeting to discuss VFR operations rescheduled for this afternoon

A morning meeting that was supposed to discuss VFR operations was rescheduled to 3 p.m. this afternoon. VFR operations are still prohibited everywhere except Alaska. National security officials have not indicated when they might make a decision on restoring some VFR operations.

Earlier this afternoon, Secretary of Transportation Norman Y. Mineta held a press conference to talk about an economic aid package for the airlines. Secretary Mineta said that he had talked to "all aspects of the aviation industry," including general aviation. He said a plan would be in place "next week." It's important to note that the secretary was talking about the plan for the airlines, not anything specific to VFR flight privileges.
