IFR 'slot' reservations required for this weekend's Talladega NASCAR race

Pilots flying into the Talladega Municipal, Anniston Metropolitan, and St. Clair County airports on Sunday, April 21, are advised that a special traffic management program (STMP) will be in effect for the Winston Cup NASCAR race in Talladega, Alabama. Slot reservations will be required for all domestic, non-scheduled IFR arrivals into these three airports from 8 a.m. local (1200Z) through 1 p.m. local (1700Z) on the 21st.

Slot reservations for April 21 will be available commencing April 18 at 8 a.m. local and will not be assigned more than 72 hours in advance. Pilots may obtain reservations via the Internet or by telephone at 800/875-9755.

All arrivals and departures from Talladega Municipal Airport are advised that a temporary control tower will be in use April 20 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. (1400Z-2000Z) local and 6 a.m.-7 p.m. (1000Z-2300Z) on the 21st. The following frequencies are provided to support these operations:

  • ATIS: 134.05
  • Tower: 119.625
  • Clearance delivery: 125.5
  • Ground: 121.9
