Huge funding increase for California airports advances in State Assembly

A bill to increase funding for safety and security enhancements at general aviation airports is on its way to the California State Assembly's Committee on Appropriations.

AOPA California Regional Representative John Pfeifer was in Sacramento earlier this week to testify before the Assembly Committee on Transportation in support the measure. As currently written, the bill would allocate $49 million from the jet fuel tax and the general fund over a four-year period. "This is an important bill," Pfeifer said. "It provides safer and more secure airports."

California AOPA members are encouraged to contact their state representatives and urge them to support Assembly Bill 2719.
