When can money change hands?

When may a private pilot share expenses or conduct charitable flights for which donations are received?

The fine line between Part 91 private operations and Part 135 commercial operations can be especially troublesome. But AOPA's Aviation Services has assembled a comprehensive report to help pilots not cross that line. It contains articles ranging from a review of commercial versus private operations to charitable flights and sharing expenses.

In addition, AOPA has worked with the FAA to extend a drug-testing exemption for pilots who conduct charitable sightseeing flights. For more information on requirements for obtaining the exemption, see AOPA's regulatory brief.
