AOPA members facing an FAA written exam can save $10 on the cost of the test. AOPA Certified partner Computer Assisted Testing Service (CATS), Inc. now offers a coupon online that members may print out and present at any of CATS' more than 400 testing centers worldwide.
"When AOPA was chartered nearly 65 years ago, one of its main charges was to keep flying affordable," said AOPA Senior Vice President of Products and Services Karen Gebhart. "By working with Certified partners like CATS, AOPA is able to offer our members the best possible service at the lowest possible price."
CATS offers a full range of FAA written exams, from recreational and private pilot, through instrument rating and flight instructor, to parachute rigger and pilot examiner. The tests run in a familiar Windows-based environment. They include a tutorial to familiarize an applicant with the testing software. After the test, CATS provides the results immediately.
Registration can be done by phone seven days a week at 800/947-4228, or applicants may set up an appointment, even a same-day appointment, in person at any of CATS' testing centers. For a list of testing centers, visit the Web site.
Applicants claiming the $10 discount for AOPA members must provide their AOPA membership number, even if they have a coupon.
