AOPA Expo 2003

Perhaps, in the course of your training, you and your instructor have flown to a nearby pancake breakfast, or an FAA safety seminar, or a regional fly-in. It was a learning experience as well as just plain fun-a chance to visit a new airport, hobnob with other pilots, check out unfamiliar aircraft, and talk about aviation.

Now imagine joining thousands of your peers at a three-day event at which you can attend your choice of more than 80 seminars, get the latest information on airspace issues, and eyeball dozens of new aircraft. All of this and more is waiting for you at AOPA Expo 2003, October 30 to November 1 in Philadelphia.

You can attend lively sessions presented by AOPA Flight Training columnists. Flight instructor Rod Machado, author of "Since You Asked," brings his unmistakable brand of aviation humor to the topic of "Defensive Flying." Greg Brown, who writes "Flying Carpet," will share stories from his family's aerial journey of self-discovery through life and talk about why becoming a flight instructor is a worthy mission to pursue right now. There are dozens of other seminar topics for all pilot experience levels, ranging from "Night Op Flying" to "Aerial Photography" to "Affordable Flying" to "Handling In-Flight Emergencies." And there are free general sessions, including a planned appearance by FAA Administrator Marion C. Blakey, on the latest developments in general aviation. The award-winning speakers are just one part of the action at AOPA Expo 2003. At nearby Philadelphia International Airport you can check out more than 60 aircraft on display from manufacturers like American Champion, Aviat, Cessna, Diamond, Eclipse, and Piper. Inside the exhibit hall at the Philadelphia Convention Center will be 500 industry exhibits. This is your chance to handle the merchandise-GPS, headsets, in-flight weather displays, and much, much more.

Why not take your flight instructor or a pilot friend on a long cross-country that will benefit both of you? Registration information and many more details can be found at AOPA Online, or call 800/USA-AOPA.
