FAA seeks input from pilots on carrying external loads
Under certain circumstances Alaska pilots can ferry building supplies to remote cabins or bring antlers home from hunting areas tied to the struts of fixed-wing airplanes. Now the FAA is looking at developing guidance to allow the practice of carrying external loads nationwide. FAA representatives will provide two meetings in Alaska to seek input from local operators. AOPA encourages members with expertise in these areas to participate in order to help shape policy. The meetings are scheduled for 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on August 30 and 31 at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) Aviation Technology Division Auditorium, 2811 Merrill Field, Anchorage. Another meeting is set to take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Fairbanks Princess Riverside Lodge in Fairbanks.
