AOPA urges Washington town to protect airport
AOPA is warning Eatonville, Washington, that a land-use proposal before the town council would violate state and federal guidelines that ensure the safety and growth of the community as well as Swanson Airport. What's more, a state agency also has warned the town that it would be in jeopardy of losing a $150,000 grant for road improvements if it doesn't address the airport land-use issues. "It has been general aviation's experience that if compatible land-use measures are applied correctly, many concerns that often arise among airports and community neighbors are never realized," said Roger Cohen, AOPA vice president of regional affairs, in a letter to the mayor.
