In an effort to ease congestion and reduce delays at Chicago O'Hare International, the FAA recently announced that it will use a reservation system to limit the number of unscheduled aircraft arrivals at the airport. However, it will not require VFR operations to receive a reservation because the number of unscheduled VFR flights is minimal, and most typically occur during favorable operating conditions. However, VFR flights will be accommodated only as traffic and workload permit. AOPA has been a participant on the Chicago Delay Task Force. The rule will be effective from August 8 to October 28.
