AOPA members are sending a clear message to North Carolina legislators to force the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to keep its Horace Williams Airport open. The legislature is expected to decide on the issue within the next several weeks. "Member response has been terrific, and legislators have been receiving e-mails and phone calls, but we need to keep up the pressure because UNC is a powerful institution that is pulling out all the stops to close the airport," said Roger Cohen, AOPA vice president of regional affairs. "This is still an uphill battle. Legislators want to continue hearing from their constituents, so don't hesitate to contact them or arrange a follow up." Members can send their responses directly to House Speaker Jim Black and Senate Pro Tem Marc Basnight.
