The FAA is looking at modifying eight of the state's existing military training routes (MTRs), a proposal that would have a positive impact on general aviation. The Air Force has realigned several MTRs to shift military operations away from busy GA corridors and significantly reduced the maximum number of sorties that could be flown along the MTRs. Under the proposal, two routes would be removed from service, two would be added, and two would remain unchanged. AOPA will be reviewing the draft environmental assessment and submitting comments. The comment period has been extended to August 12. The document can be viewed on the Web.
