Colorado governor signs helpful GA legislation

Colorado Gov. Bill Owens recently signed into law two bills that will benefit general aviation. House Bill 1314, sponsored by Rep. Alice Borodkin and Sen. Lewis Entz, creates aviation development zones to offer economic development incentives to aircraft parts manufacturers located within those zones. AOPA Central Regional Representative Bill Hamilton had testified before the Senate in support of the bill. Owens also signed Senate Bill 222, sponsored by Entz and Rep. Mark Larson, to increase the efficiency of sales tax collection, including aviation fuel taxes, which ensures that the taxes paid at the pump are returned more quickly and efficiently to airports.
