AOPA is continuing its fight to keep open New Jersey's Atlantic City Municipal/Bader Field despite political opposition that goes back years. The city's federal grant assurances expire in 2006, and Atlantic City's City Council has scheduled a hearing on Monday evening about the future of the airport. AOPA Eastern Regional Representative Bill Leavens will be there to represent general aviation interests. As Leavens will point out, closing an airport so close to casinos and other tourist attractions simply doesn't make sense, and there are untapped resources available to the city to upgrade the airport. The meeting starts at 5 p.m. at Atlantic City High School.
