Boyer urges Iowa, Missouri governors to sign GA funding bills

AOPA President Phil Boyer wrote Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack and Missouri Gov. Matt Blunt, urging them to sign into law bills that would provide funding for general aviation in their states. Iowa's House File 875 would provide funding for improvements at the state's GA airports, while Senate Bill 396 in Missouri would extend the transfer of jet fuel sales tax revenue into the State Aviation Trust Fund from 2008 to 2013.

"Airports are an important component of the national transportation system and play a vital role...providing a direct conduit for infusing dollars into the community," Boyer explained in the letters. "The financial reward of investing in aviation is an economic boost to the state and ensures a system of safe and efficient air travel."
