Aviation forums on AOPA Online

Pilots and aviation enthusiasts rarely miss an opportunity to talk to other pilots, ask questions, share experiences, or indulge in a little hangar talk. Want to talk but you can't get out to the airport today? AOPA Online's Aviation Forums are as close as your computer and available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The forums are a great way to talk to other AOPA members around the country about topics ranging from medical certification to instrument flying. They also provide an opportunity to learn from others, particularly if you're a student pilot or someone who is curious to know what it takes to learn to fly.

Forums cover a wide range of topics, including:

  • Left Seat/Right Seat (instructional questions, how-to's);
  • I Was Wondering (operational, regulatory, and miscellaneous questions);
  • Medical Matters (a forum that permits you to anonymously post questions on medical conditions);
  • Cloud Busters (questions and answers on the IFR environment);
  • Never Again (stories that other pilots can learn from);
  • Hops and $100 Hamburgers (places to fly);
  • Mechanics' Bench (maintenance topics).

Before you dive in, be sure to read the Frequently Asked Questions concerning general forum use and reading and posting messages. When you enter the forums, you can read all messages, but you'll need to register if you would like to participate fully. Registration is free for AOPA members, including those with introductory AOPA Flight Training memberships, and lets you post and edit your own messages, respond to others' messages, send private messages, create a buddy list, and more. You also can post one-time or recurring aviation events (or even birthdays) in the forum calendar.
