For the third year in a row, AOPA has successfully opposed Maryland Delegate Darryl Kelley's bill that would establish a task force to study general aviation issues. The bill died this week when the legislature adjourned. AOPA had testified against the bill in March during a hearing before the House Environmental Matters Committee. The task force would have examined environmental problems, including any problems with low-flying aircraft; safety and land-use compatibility questions; security issues; the monitoring of flight schools; and the recording of operations at airports. AOPA has repeatedly argued that federal and local authorities already oversee these issues.
