Airport supporter wins primary, your help still needed

A pro-airport city council candidate has won a primary election in Mesa, Arizona. While the news is encouraging, a battle lies ahead to protect Williams Gateway Airport. Interestingly, the incumbent who lost the election this week had cast a crucial anti-airport vote last month on a motion before the city council that would have prevented homes from being developed under the flight path of the airport by rezoning the property from residential to commercial/industrial. The motion failed despite the mayor, vice mayor, and local citizens speaking in favor of the rezoning. This is precisely the kind of threat Airport Support Network (ASN) volunteers try to prevent by working with AOPA. Williams Gateway, however, is without a volunteer. If you would like to help protect it or your local airport, sign up to be an ASN volunteer today.
