AOPA supports FAA plan to establish new GPS routes in L.A.

AOPA is backing an FAA plan that would allow aircraft to fly more efficiently through the Los Angeles Basin. Since 2000, AOPA has championed the creation of "T" routes in Class B and C airspace. They were previously called IFR terminal transition routes (RITTRs) or terminal RNAV routes. T routes have already been established in Cincinnati; Charlotte and Outer Banks, North Carolina; and Jacksonville, Florida. The FAA now wants to create three low-altitude routes in the Los Angeles International Airport's terminal airspace. The routes can be used by IFR traffic with IFR-approved GPS receivers.
