It was an expensive lesson for a San Diego developer. And now you can watch him pay for it via our “deconstruction cam.”
Sunroad Enterprises defied the San Diego city attorney, the FAA, and the California Department of Transportation when it built a too-tall building seven-tenths of a mile from a Montgomery Field runway. Now deconstruction work has begun to lop two stories off the top of the building.
AOPA helped those fighting the contractor and was a party to a lawsuit against Sunroad. On June 22, San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders ordered the contractor to remove the floors because the building was a hazard to air navigation.
AOPA members helped make it all happen!
