Addison Airport threat put to rest

Thanks to local pilots, Addison, Texas, officials won't be given the authority to set new fees for access to the town's airport. House Bill 2955, which would have given the officials that authority, failed to pass through the committee. "Pilots turned out in droves to oppose the bill during a hearing before the Texas Transportation Committee," said Greg Pecoraro, AOPA vice president of regional affairs. AOPA Airport Support Network volunteer Keith Craigo engaged local pilots, while AOPA Southwest Regional Representative Shelly Lesikar deZevallos met with the bill sponsor and legislators in the House and Senate. "This is a perfect example of local pilots working to protect general aviation," Pecoraro said.
