During her first solo at age 16, Project Pilot Student Betsy Greacen got lost. She made it back to the airport but vowed never to fly solo again. Years later, Greacen decided to fulfill her lifelong dream and return to the skies. Greacen was searching for a female role model, and a mutual friend knew Mentor Beverly Franklet would be the right fit. "She has always been there to encourage me, check in with me, and keep me motivated to get through difficult times," said Greacen, who passed her checkride on May 19. "I wish the mentor program had been in place then. I know now that many people have that same experience and overcome it with a little coaching."
