The Oklahoma House of Representatives voted 96 to 4 (with one representative absent) in favor of House Bill 2082, which would provide $40 million in state funding for improvements at 49 regional airports. Improvements would include building or repairing hangars and terminals, and examining approaches. The next step is gaining approval in the Senate. "We contacted every single member of the House to gather support for the bill, and several representatives turned to AOPA to answer their questions about the legislation," said Greg Pecoraro, AOPA vice president of regional affairs, who met with legislators to promote the bill last week during Oklahoma Aviation Day. "This approach was very successful, and we are planning to do the same with the Senate. But we need AOPA members to get involved as well." AOPA encourages members to contact their senators and ask them to pass the bill.
