An AOPA-supported bill that would increase funding for regional airports throughout Oklahoma is in for a tough fight to get to the state Senate. While House Bill 2082 passed the House with a nearly unanimous vote, it is expected to have a rough time in the Senate's Appropriations Committee. The bill would make 49 regional airports eligible for funding for important enhancements, such as better approaches for aircraft and improved terminals and hangars. These 49 airports are spread across the state and are host to two-thirds of the single-engine aircraft based in Oklahoma. AOPA endorsed this bill and is working with the Oklahoma Aeronautics Commission to get it enacted into law. Oklahoma pilots are encouraged to contact their state senators and encourage them to enact this important bill for Oklahoma airports.
