AOPA promotes airports at Alaska conference

With few major roads in Alaska, general aviation aircraft and airports provide the primary means and infrastructure for transportation in the state. Protecting those airports is a critical issue - and that's the topic AOPA will be focusing on during the Alaska State Aviation Trade Show and Conference on May 5 and 6 at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport. AOPA Airport Support Network (ASN) Director Stacy Swigart will discuss the unique challenges that Alaska airports face and how to enhance the airport's image in the community at 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 6. One of the best ways to protect an airport is to ensure that it has an ASN volunteer. If you would like to become an ASN volunteer at your airport, stop by AOPA's booth. Current volunteers can attend an ASN meeting on Saturday, May 5 at 7 a.m. at the Millennium Alaskan Hotel. AOPA's Alaska Regional Representative Tom George and Northwest Regional Representative Mike Ferguson will also be on hand during the weekend to discuss airport issues.
