FAA plans July 4 TFR over NYC

FAA plans July 4 TFR over NYC

Through its continuing advocacy efforts, AOPA has learned that the FAA is planning to issue a TFR (temporary flight restriction) closing New York City's Hudson River and East River VFR corridors July 4. President Clinton is scheduled to attend Independence Day celebrations at New York's harbor. AOPA is working to ensure the TFR is absolutely necessary and not overly restrictive. Advance information is that pilots will still be able to access area airports, but aircraft that violate the TFR may be pursued by U.S. Customs Service gunships. Before sure to check notams and AOPA Online for more information.
