AOPA talks GA with state lawmakers

It’s not often that you have the chance to meet with lawmakers from all across the country, all in one place. But that’s what the National Conference of State Legislatures Fall Forum is all about, and AOPA was on hand to talk to lawmakers about issues facing general aviation.

AOPA Manager of State Legislative Affairs Mark Kimberling and AOPA Regional Representative Bob Minter met with dozens of elected officials and their staff members during the conference, held Dec. 10 through 13 in Atlanta.

“State lawmakers make critical decisions about airport funding, taxes, land use, and security requirements,” Kimberling said. “The more lawmakers understand about the importance of general aviation to their state, the better positioned they are to make sound judgments on these issues.”

AOPA has been actively engaged with the National Conference of State Legislatures, a bipartisan group that serves the legislators and staffs of all 50 states.
