Air Force seeks pilot input on Alaska's Delta MOA

Air Force seeks pilot input on Alaska’s Delta MOA

The Air Force is studying the potential environmental consequences of making the temporary Delta Military Operations Area (MOA) Complex permanent. The permanent Delta MOA would be active for two weeks at a time, one-and-a-half to two-and-a-half hours twice a day. However, the MOA could not be active more than 60 days per year. The proposal also would extend defensive chaff and flare use to new and modified airspace. AOPA plans to oppose the proposed MOAs because of the impact to a prominent Victor airway, V444. Members are encouraged to attend one of the three public meetings next week and provide community-specific input. See the notice for meeting times and locations. Those who cannot attend can submit their written concerns about the potential environmental impact by April 30.
