Air Force reluctant to release MOA in New England

In response to AOPA’s request that the Air Force return the Yankee Two Military Operations Area (MOA) in New Hampshire to civilian use, the military said on April 24 that it would not consider releasing the airspace until it received a lower floor for the Condor MOA in Maine. However, the proposed changes to the Condor MOA are contentious and are facing pressure from state residents, AOPA, and legislators. The FAA is currently studying the proposal. “AOPA will be evaluating all proposals to make sure general aviation access doesn’t suffer in either area,” Pete Lehmann, AOPA manager of air traffic services.
