AOPA has expanded its member recognition program. AOPA President Phil Boyer announced during AOPA Expo 2000 that all pilots who have been AOPA members for 10 years or more will receive special membership lapel pins.
"AOPA can stand up for general aviation because the association is backed by the unwavering support of our members," said Boyer. "These new pins honor that long-term support."
The new lapel pins will be given to members of 10 and 20 years. Each includes the distinctive AOPA wings with a colored, circular band underneath and the years of membership milestone achieved.
Pilots who have been AOPA members for 10 or more years will receive a silver and white 10-year pin. The pin for 20-year members will be silver with a blue band.
The special member recognition pins for each milestone will be mailed to pilots the month after the anniversary of their AOPA membership. AOPA will do a special mailing in December for all pilots who have already passed their 10- or 20-year anniversary of AOPA membership.
"We're very proud of AOPA's longtime members," said Boyer, "and we know they're proud to support AOPA."
