Were you affected by the TCM cylinder recall?

Teledyne Continental Motors (TCM) plans to wrap up its cylinder recall by the end of the month, because full warranty coverage ends Dec. 31. There’s still time to qualify for the full warranty coverage if you were affected by recall MSB09-1B.

A wide range of engines were affected, since any of them could have cylinder heads known as EQ3. The company issued a service bulletin issued last August.

You’ll need to notify TCM by Dec. 31. So far, only 90 percent of the affected cylinders have been replaced, but TCM has additional ones waiting for those who contact the company. If you are an owner with the recalled cylinders and do not call by Dec. 31, you will lose the warranty. But as long as a replacement is scheduled, TCM will pay for replacement through Feb. 28, 2010.
