Jeppesen debuts new sport pilot course

Jeppesen introduced a new Web-based sport pilot training program at a news conference this week at EAA AirVenture.

The course relies on multimedia to present lessons in a diverse way. Extensive video and audio accompany the text to help students through the sport pilot program.

Each course comes with a training syllabus that allows users to track their progress independently or through a school. Although Jeppesen says the course is complete, much of the focus is on passing the sport pilot written exam, for which students are given an automatic endorsement upon successful course completion.

The course is $199.95 for a year’s access, and then $40 per year afterwards. It’s sold through JeppDirect, Jeppesen’s new customer Web site. The new Web site will feature blogs and customer forums, which Jeppesen said will greatly improve the customer experience.
