Kindle your plates

Amazon.com had a great idea last year when the company introduced a Kindle reader for downloading books. Now a new company has launched a beta version of a Web site for downloading approach plates to the Kindle or even a tablet PC. It’s free!

Some bugs are being worked out with the Kindle display—some of the data does not display correctly and the company suggests waiting until the bugs are fixed before using a Kindle. U.S. Terminal Procedures are downloaded by the company from the FAA and converted to PDF files. Each region is downloaded separately.

Future plans include downloading airport facility directories, terminal procedures organized by state, and terminal procedures for the next cycle so you’ll never be out of date.
