Honda Aircraft Company, Inc. says that because of delays in receiving critical components its HondaJet project will experience delays. The target for first flight is now set at January 2010. First customer deliveries are expected in the fourth quarter of 2011.
“We have been working very closely with our suppliers over the past year in an effort to minimize the effect of the ongoing worldwide economic instability on HondaJet development,” said Michimasa Fujino, Honda Aircraft president and CEO. “Unfortunately, we now have no choice but to revise our schedule.” Honda Aircraft’s world headquarters in Greensboro, NC, serves as a research and development center where ongoing construction of conforming aircraft is taking place. The 83-acre Greensboro facility will also become the world delivery center for all HondaJet aircraft. This summer, construction will begin on a production plant on the Greensboro campus.
