AOPA Expo named one of the nation's top aviation attractions

To anyone who's been to an AOPA Expo, it comes as no surprise, but a new book lists AOPA Expo as one of the top aviation attractions in the United States. The book is 101 Best Aviation Attractions by John Purner, author of The $100 Hamburger (to the uninitiated, a $100 hamburger refers to those places pilots love to fly for a great meal, where hamburgers end up costing $100 when you factor in flight costs).

In his new book, Purner lists AOPA Expo among the top 10 of his 101 best attractions, saying, "Each year, AOPA brings the faithful together in one of the nation's "gotta got there" destinations. It's a one-stop opportunity to check out new airplanes and equipment, learn the latest safety procedures, and enjoy the company of other aviation supporters."

This year's Expo is October 21-23 in Long Beach, California. There will be more than 500 exhibits in the Long Beach Convention Center and more than 70 aircraft on static display at Long Beach Airport, only a short, free shuttle bus ride away from the convention hall. The star attraction at the static display is sure to be the AOPA Win-A-Twin Sweepstakes grand prize, a better-than-new 1965 Piper Twin Comanche. Anyone who joins or renews membership in AOPA during 2004 is automatically entered in the sweepstakes. Complete rules, eligibility requirements, and alternate methods of entry are available online.

It costs as little as $25 a day to attend AOPA Expo 2004. Register online (click on "Register Now!") or call 888/GO-2-EXPO.
