May 20, 2004 - Members of the AOPA Air Safety Foundation's Hat in the Ring Society play a major role in helping advance general aviation safety by helping fund ASF's research and education efforts. This week, Lee Gilbert, the national chairman of the society, and J. Lloyd Huck, a 10-year member of the society, visited the foundation's headquarters to learn more about those efforts and to see for themselves the impact that Hat in the Ring donors make.
The AOPA Air Safety Foundation receives only a single dollar from each AOPA member's $39 dues, so donations of any size from pilots and others interested in aviation safety are vital to the foundation's efforts. Giving $1,000 to ASF gets donors into the Hat in the Ring Society, but the foundation accepts any size donation. To learn how to help, visit the ASF Web site and click on the "You Can Help!" button.
