Help put some paint on the AOPA Win-A-Twin Sweepstakes plane

Feb. 13, 2004 - The grand prize in AOPA's 2004 Win-A-Twin Sweepstakes, a better-than-new 1965 Piper Twin Comanche, heads to the paint shop soon, and now's your chance to help decide what it will look like when it comes out.

Scheme Designers has submitted several options, and you now have the opportunity to share your opinion on which is best. Simply visit the new Win-A-Twin Sweepstakes page, then click on the link to paint preferences. Once you're on the paint preferences page, simply roll your mouse across the small images to see a larger scale drawing, then click the "My Choice" button for the paint scheme you like best. Your selection will help AOPA decide which paint scheme to choose.

Both engines for the grand prize aircraft have already been rebuilt; tip tanks have been installed, adding nearly two hours' flying time; and every available speed modification LoPresti offers for the Twin Comanche either has been or is being installed.

After the trip to the paint shop, the Win-A-Twin Comanche will make appearances at Sun 'n Fun April 13-19 in Lakeland, Fla., and at the AOPA Fly-In and Open House on June 5 in Frederick.

From there, it's on to the avionics shop for a panel overhaul that is currently planned to include a full Garmin avionics suite, S-Tec autopilot, and Sandel EHSI.

Look for restoration updates on the Win-A-Twin Sweepstakes page and in AOPA Pilot magazine.

Anyone who joins or renews membership in AOPA during 2004 is automatically entered in the sweepstakes. Complete rules, eligibility requirements, and alternate methods of entry are available online.
