Dear Iowa Member: As I advised you in a recent letter, I am traveling to your state on behalf of our ongoing FAA Funding battle. I hope you will join me at Ankeny Regional Airport (IKV) on Monday, June 4, 2007, for two special events featuring two important Congressional aviation leaders. Congressman Leonard Boswell has been a member of AOPA for more than ten years. An active pilot and owner of a Piper Comanche, he has been outspoken against the FAA’s attempt to quadruple the tax on avgas and impose air traffic control user fees. Whether it’s ensuring funding for local airports, speaking out against user fees, or helping his Congressional colleagues better understand how general aviation serves their communities, Congressman Boswell is one of Congress’ foremost leaders on aviation matters. Congressman Jerry Costello of Illinois was elected by his colleagues to Chair the House Aviation Subcommittee in January. His work ethic and tendency to find practical solutions to tough policy questions made him a natural choice for this position. Since becoming chairman, he’s held nine hearings on FAA reauthorization topics to better understand the critical aviation needs that must be addressed this year. And, Chairman Costello has already weighed in one important reauthorization topic-No User Fees! Two Invitations
Immediately following the general discussion session, AOPA will host a fundraising reception for Congressman Boswell. This allows those AOPA Members wishing to join me in financially supporting his candidacy. Time after time Leonard Boswell has been there for the general aviation and we need to help him as he works on his re-election effort. Despite his solid reputation in Congress, Leonard Boswell faces a tight race. To attend this second event, please click here for important information on how to confirm your attendance. I look forward to seeing you at the Ankeny Regional Airport on June 4, 2007. Sincerely, AOPA sent you this important message because you subscribe to AOPA ePilot. If you do not wish to receive non-ePilot messages in the future, reply to this message and type "SUPPRESS" in the subject line. Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association |
