You don't have to wait until AOPA gives away a better-than-new 1965 Piper Twin Comanche next year to be a winner in the AOPA Win-A-Twin Sweepstakes. Each month during the yearlong sweepstakes, AOPA is giving away nearly 200 prizes, ranging from AOPA T-shirts to leather jackets from Sporty's Pilot Shop. Two recent jacket winners were ecstatic when they got the news, one saying, "My day's been made because I got a letter from AOPA that says I won a jacket!"
Anyone who joins or renews membership in AOPA during 2004 is automatically entered in the Win-A-Twin Sweepstakes. Complete rules, eligibility requirements, and alternate methods of entry are available online.
Each month, AOPA will award 90 AOPA T-shirts; 90 Croakies®-brand eyeglass lanyards; nine AOPA Zulu Watches, and nine AOPA Pilot leather jackets, each from Sporty's. Add that all up and toss in the grand-prize Twin Comanche, and that comes to well over 2,300 prizes over the course of the year.
The Twin Comanche itself will be awarded sometime in early 2005. By the time all the restoration work is done, it will have a brand-new paint job designed by Scheme Designers and executed by KD Aviation; a whole new panel including a full Garmin avionics stack, including the CNX-80, the first certified WAAS-enabled GPS unit; a PMA8000 audio panel and PXE7300 entertainment system with AM/FM radio, CD, and DVD - and two LCD screens for the passengers from PS Engineering; an S-Tec three-axis autopilot; a Honeywell/Bendix-King KI-825 EHSI; and a J.P. Instruments engine analyzer/fuel totalizer. And Airtex Interiors is upgrading the interior to make sure the inside looks as great as the outside.
Your next chance to see the Win-A-Twin grand prize is at the 2004 AOPA Expo October 21-23 in Long Beach, Calif.
