Women in Aviation International (WAI) would like you to know that you don’t have to be a college student or a woman to apply for one or more of its 2010 scholarship offerings.
“Let’s debunk two big misunderstandings about our WAI scholarships,” WAI President Peggy Chabrian said. “Contrary to what people may think, you do not have to be a student to qualify; the second is you don’t have to be a woman. Over the years we’ve awarded scholarships to men and women of all age groups and a wide range of professions.”
You do have to be a WAI member to qualify, however. The organization is dedicated to providing networking, mentoring, and scholarship opportunities for men and women who seek careers in the aviation and aerospace industries.
The scholarships for 2010 total more than $300,000 and include dispatcher training, Airbus and Boeing type ratings, jet transition courses, financial assistance for sport, recreational, or private certificates as well as advanced certificates and ratings, and more. The complete list of scholarships, as well as rules and applications, can be found on the Web site. Applications must be postmarked by Nov. 20. Scholarships will be awarded at WAI’s twenty-first annual International Conference, Feb. 25 to 27, 2010, in Orlando, Fla.
