Save on a jet rating on eBay

If you are multiengine rated pilot, have 500 hours total time, and have a valid medical, you might want to bid on a rating in a Citation CE-500 that opens the door to eight other models. As this was written, the bidding stood at $4,501.

Proceeds of the winning bid will be donated to the National Intercollegiate Flying Association. The rating is offered by Texas company PrestoSIM.

“At PrestoSIM we realize that times have been tough in the entire aviation industry so we would like to help out by doing our part,” said Ray Heyde, training center manager. “As a result, we are putting up for bid on eBay in early April a CE-500 type rating. Starting bid is only $0.99 and the CE-500 course will sell without any reserve. The PrestoSIM team hopes this act will help someone achieve a new level in their flying career or help someone that is either furloughed or displaced to re-enter the market. In addition, the profit from this auction will be donated to scholarship funds to assist others that are just starting their aviation career to help keep the pipeline full of new pilots ensuring the future of our industry.

“It is our hope that this 10-day auction will generate enough funds so that scholarships can be awarded to more than one aspiring pilot. Scholarships generated from this auction will be presented to collegiate pilots attending one of the National Intercollegiate Flying Association SAFECON events. Thanks to all of you that have supported us over the years in our various Citation and King Air programs. Good luck in bidding.”

The winning bidder receives “FAA Approved” training under 14 CFR Part 142 for the CE-500 added type rating at the PrestoSIM facility in Grapevine, Texas, near the Dallas/Ft. Worth airport.

PrestoSIM specializes not only in initial and recurrent Citation training, but also offers single-pilot training that includes the entire CE-500 series product line to include the CE-500, CE-550, CE-S550, CE-552, CE-560, Bravo, Ultra, and Encore models under their own 9843 Exemption.
