Despite the recession, Embraer expects strong and growing business jet sales, according to a briefing given during Sun ’n Fun in Lakeland, Fla.
While sales remain flat this year, a prediction matched by other large airframe manufacturers, sales pick up in 2011, according to the Embraer forecast. The total yearly sales level will return to high 2008 levels by 2018, an Embraer chart shows. The company predicts more than 10,000 jets worth $190 billion will be sold over the next 10 years.
If true, the $190 billion between 2010 and 2019 would top the $155 billion realized by jet manufacturers from 2000 to 2009.
The United States stands to capture $91 billion of the $190 billion, or 48 percent of the market. Europe is second, the forecast says, with $65.5 billion, or 34 percent. The Asia/Pacific market captures 8.2 percent of the amount.
Embraer builds the Phenom 100, the Phenom 300, and the Legacy 600/650. First deliveries of the Legacy 650 are set for late 2010.
