Tecnam introduces flight center concept and training program

Light sport aircraft manufacturer Tecnam introduced a network of sport pilot schools called Tecnam Flight Centers last week. The centers will utilize Tecnam’s line of LSAs, along with a training program based on Apple’s iPad.

The flight center concept joins other aircraft manufacturers, including Cessna and Remos, to introduce an easy way for schools to buy or lease new aircraft from Tecnam. As of now there are five centers across the country, and more are expected to be added, according to a company representative.

As part of the center concept, Tecnam has developed a complete training course in connection with MS Aviation and Hilton Software. The iPad-based course includes a multi-window video player that fully prepares students for the written exam. It also has a video maneuvers guide, a syllabus, and other training materials.

The course is very Tecnam-specific, using the manufacturer’s handbooks, performance charts, and weight-and-balance information where appropriate. According to a company representative, both the school and the company can monitor student progress and update the course quickly, thanks to Apple’s application store interface.
