Flight continues west after AirVenture appearance

Michael Combs and the Flight for the Human Spirit continue to make their way West this week, completing stops in New Mexico, Nevada, and Arizona.

Since launching in April, Combs has flown a Remos GX light sport aircraft named Hope One to 43 states, making 117 stops and traveling more than 16,600 miles.

Flying over spectacular vistas near Las Vegas, Combs took photos that he shared with his Facebook fans.

After departing Wisconsin at the conclusion of AirVenture earlier this month, Hope One was briefly grounded for a flat tire and a scheduled oil change. “This mission is teaching me much about patience and resilience, both of which are perfect traits to prepare me for the next 8,000 miles that loom to the west just over the horizon,” Combs wrote in his blog.

Combs has set a deadline of Sept. 25 to land in all of the lower 48 states and Alaska. On Sept. 25, he will speak at Lake Havasu City Airport’s second annual fly-in.
