Husky adds cargo pod

Husky

Aviat Aircraft has begun offering Airglas Cargo Pods on Husky aircraft allowing the rugged, backcountry aircraft to carry more cargo in and out of remote airstrips.

The pods weigh 25 pounds each and hold up to 170 pounds of gear.

With a supplemental type certificate, the pods can be fitted to any model Husky, and they take about 10 minutes to attach or remove. The Husky has a maximum gross weight of 2,200 pounds, but due to their small internal baggage areas, the two-seat airplanes usually fly at much lighter weights.

An Airglas Cargo Pod for the Husky sells for $3,500, and Aviat officials say the pods have a minimal impact on aircraft performance.
