Banyan Air Service at the Fort Lauderdale Executive airport is holding Bahamas Day on Feb. 20 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Banyan says Bahamas Day is an opportunity for pilots to come together to learn about the benefits of flying to the Bahamas and how to make it happen.
The FBO will be transforming a hangar into a tropical scene, and there will be exhibitors and seminars geared toward visiting the island nation. U.S. Customs will have a seminar on how to use eAPIS (Electronic Advance Passenger Information Service), the Web-based application pilots must fill out to both leave and enter the country. The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism’s seminar on flying to the Bahamas will cover information about gateway airports and paperwork requirements. Finally, Premier Aircraft, an East Coast Diamond dealer, will present a forum on preparing your aircraft for overwater flight.
In addition to the seminars, attendees can enjoy Bahamian food and a band, along with learning about life in the Bahamas and resources to get there from various exhibitors.
The Bahamian Ministry of Tourism’s aviation division is helping to host the event as part of its FBO gateway program.
